Typesetting
A typesetter is responsible for designing the interior layout of a book, a role now commonly referred to as a book designer.
The individual handling the interior design may also design the cover, though this is not always the case.
The term "typesetter" has its roots in the history of the profession. In the past, book design was done by hand, with wooden or lead type being manually arranged at the printing press. The task primarily involved placing the letters in the correct sequence—a process more challenging than it sounds, as the type was reversed and required precise spelling. Today, all book design is done digitally, but the term remains a nod to the craft’s origins.
